Electricity Company CEPM is a private company in the electricity sector in the Dominican Republic that generates, transmits, distributes and markets energy in the tourist area of Punta Cana-Bavaro and Bayahibe.
History of CEPM
In 1990 the Government of the Dominican Republic approved Law 14-90, which creates the legal framework to encourage the development of the country's power sector through domestic and foreign investors. In 1992 a group of international private investors undertake the creation of the Energy Consortium Punta Cana Macao (CEPM), in order to provide reliable power to the tourism industry in the area of Bavaro and Punta Cana Operations began with a power plant to Heavy Fuel Oil HFO 4 MW which at first supplied power to two resorts. In 1996, the first step to CEPM firm consolidates basic as electricity supplier in the area with the installation of a new central 4 of 4 MW Wärtsilä engines (three installed in the same year and another in 1997) then abordándose electricity supply contract with the rest of the hotel facilities that were still partially under a self-generation (Melia and Barcelo) and, of course, with new accommodations starting to proliferate. In 2000 the network expands and incorporates two groups of 6 Mws Wartsila. In 2003 it launched the service of Thermal Energy. In 2008 was inaugurated the 138kV transmission line. Each month you should receive plastic envelope with the CEPM electricity bill, under the door. Please pay the CEPM electricity bill until the indicated expiry date, otherwise you will have to ask for reconnection and pay additional 500 pesos.
